About Connect 87

Our history

Connect 87 was started by Frans and Toke Verschuren in 2005, after they arrived in Saint Yrieix la Perche and finding that there was very little information to help navigate the French systems available for newcomers, so by making friends with the existing English/Dutch communities they created a group and it was decided to meet, once a month, to exchange their experiences. They named the group Connect 87 as it conveys the connection between everyone with the same problems.

They formed a committee and attached themselves to Family Rural who were already an association and stayed with Family Rural for 10 years.

In 2015 the group agreed that Connect 87 needed to register as its own association.

Since then, it has operated independently.

Membership

As an association in France, we are obliged to have insurance among other things which is funded by an annual membership fee.
